History

OUR STORY SO FAR

In 1988, Missionaries Hugh & Audrey Layzell and Lew & Marion Peterson together with nationals Sam & Sarah Namatiiti gathered a group of young Ugandans to start Reaching Unto Nations (RUN) Ministries, initially founded with a purpose to train pastors that had not acquired formal Bible training due to the war insurgency that was prevalent in Uganda prior to 1986.

Later, it became imperative to provide a church home for the young men and women who journeyed with them being trained in RUN Institute. In October of 1988, RUN Bible Church (RBC) held their first service in a high school amphi-theater in Kampala. Later, they were able to mobilize some resources to have a tent pitched on the property of YMCA in Kampala. By 1997, the Petersons and Layzells had left Uganda. Also the tent had deteriorate and leaked badly – it was time to look for a permanent home for RBC. After many unsuccessful efforts to secure land, God opened a door for a long-term lease on a piece of land in Namasuba on the outskirts of Kampala City along Entebbe Road which later became home for RBC’s first campus, dedicated in 2007.

In 2009, Bob & Sharon Wagar from City Bible Church, Portland, Oregon, upon the request of the Elders became the Lead Pastors of RBC. With renewed vision and ministry focus, the church was re-named Life Church, Uganda embracing the vision of being a healthy, growing and overflowing church. In 2014, Life Church opened her second campus at Kawuku along Entebbe Road.

On 5th March 2017, Pr. Bob and Sharon passed on the mantle and installed our new lead pastors Richard & Dora Senkungu to take on the leadership of God’s House. We are Loving God and sharing His love with the community around us as He continues to work in and through us as Life Church.
